May 2025

  • Orientation/Pizza Party Meet and GreetMay 7, 2025, Blue Lounge (GG Brown) GGBL 1280/1280A
    This is an in-person event. I know some of you have mentioned that you will be traveling during the first couple of weeks of the program, please note this is not a required event, but we strongly encourage you to attend as we will have special guests available to answer any questions you may have.  We will also be distributing SWAG at this event!!  Again, a separate calendar invite will follow.
  • RCRS Training – May 7, 2025, Johnson Rooms – 2:00 – 3:30 pm. This is required before you can work in your lab.
  • SPIRE Introduction and Developing Professional CompetenciesMay 20 – 133 Chrysler Center, 4:00 – 5:00 pm. Food will be provided

June 2025

  • Research Basic/Intermediate for SURE Students – June 5, 2025, 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
  • Big House Tour – June 13, 2025 – space is limited to 75 students so this will be optional
  • Finding Your Graduate School Journey (hybrid option) –  Monday, June 16th from 10 AM – 11 AM
  • SURE BBQ – June 25, 2025 – Lurie Fountain. We will be hosting a BBQ for all SURE participants, faculty, and staff. This will be a catered social event to celebrate the midpoint of the program.  Please join us for food and fun!! 

** Detroit Tigers Game – (Date TBD – Friday, July 11, 2025 or Saturday, July 26, 2025) 

July 2025

  • The Power of an Application Package (hybrid option) –  Monday, July 14th from 10 AM – 11 AM
  • Pitching Your Poster – This will be offered in 2 sessions, you will be asked to sign up and attend one. This is prep for the poster session that will be taking place on:
    • Session 1: Tuesday, July 15, 2025 10-11 am location 133 Chrysler Center
    • Session 2: Thursday, July 24, 2025 4-5 pm location 133 Chrysler Center
  • SURE Poster Presentation/ReceptionJuly 30, 2025 Duderstadt Connector, Gallery, and Chrysler Lobby, 2 – 4pm. All students will be expected to present a poster during this event regardless of where the are with their research at the time. Please mark your calendars, more information will follow.
