Preparing Your Application

We encourage you to do the following before you begin your application, so you can complete your application in one sitting.  You cannot save a draft of your application after you start the application process.

Be prepared to answer/provide the following:

  • How does participating in this program help to achieve your educational goals?
  • List up to 3 concentrations of interest which can be found here.

You may apply for a maximum of 3 SURE projects.  Please carefully review the SURE research project options and select up to 3 to apply for.  Your project selections do not have to be in the same department.  For any projects to which you plan to apply, please read the department’s research projects page and instructions thoroughly before you begin your application.  Some departments require additional application materials to apply for a project in their department.

Optional Questions

  • Past or Present Research Experience.
  • Work or Internship or Practicum Experience.

These questions are optional.  Departments understand that some applicants will have little to no work or research experience, while others may have more experience under their belt.

File Upload Fields

  • A resume/CV is required.*
  • Your Fall 2023 semester unofficial transcript is required.*

There are four “other file” options available to upload additional files to your application.  Please note that you are not required to use these fields. If you have additional files such as transcripts from another institution, a research interest statement (required by some SURE departments), etc., the “other file” upload fields are where you can include them with your application.

*Please be sure to have the correct and most recent version of the required files as you will not be able to update, edit, or resubmit any files after your application has been submitted

Applicants can only submit one SURE Program application.  Therefore, it is important to have everything prepared correctly and thoroughly before submitting your application.
